After the PNB scam, the issue of fraud in banks was heavily metered. There was a lot of discussion on issues like bank accounts, ATM fraud, but you would be surprised to know that the country's largest bank SBI (State Bank of India) does not know how many ATMs the bank has in total across the country. In one RTI, the details of the bank's ATM machines in the country were sought from SBI. But on behalf of the bank it was said that they have no information available to them. The shocking thing is that the bank does not even know how much money spent on the salaries and allowances of security guards posted in the ATMs in the last 5 financial years.
Pay fix, but how much did it cost, do not know
According to the State Bank, the private guard posted at the ATM is given a fixed salary under the B and C categories. In response to the question asked by RTI activist Chandrasekhar Gaur, the bank has also told that the guards coming in the B category are paid Rs. 18925 to the guard who comes in 22182 and C category. However, the amount of money spent on the salary or allowances of private guards in SBI over the last five financial years has not been mentioned. SBI says that their information is not available to them only.
